Winter Mini-Term (WMT) 2025

Please make sure to get everything in by Friday, September 6, 2024

Winter Mini-Term Timetable Released for Editing Monday, July 1, 2024
Winter Mini-Term Edit Period Closes* Monday, September 6, 2024
WMT Timetable Goes Live for Students Monday, September 16, 2024
WMT Registration Begins for All Students  Monday, September 30, 2024

*Edit period closes – Deadline for Colleges and Departments to complete their timetables for courses needing classroom assignments. Classroom assignments will be determined according to the sections active in the timetable at this date.

  1. Winter Mini Term 2025 classes run from January 6 through January 17, 2025.
  2. The term code is 202515 and the part of term code for all sections should be “W”.
  3. We highly recommend WMT classes be offered in an online modality due to limited space and services on campus during this time frame. All classes will be assigned fully online attribute unless we hear otherwise.
  4. As you make changes to your sections, during the edit period, please let us know the following:
    1. The desired campus-hosted classroom
    2. The departmentally owned classroom assignment or lab assignment
    3. If a section does NOT need a classroom assignment
    4. The modality of all sections, even those that rolled and require no changes, so we can assign the modality attributes
    5. Remember to review your timetable report to see if you have sections in cancelled status that can be activated. This is helpful when adding new sections so that section numbers can be reused.
  5. Certain elements cannot be changed on SWASECT and require additional assistance once students have registered for a section. Before registration begins, please check the following to ensure accuracy:
    1. Instructional Method (Note: Make sure online and distance education sections have the 02 Instructional Method)
    2. Part of Term Code
    3. Campus Code
  6. Please pay close attention to any non-standard class times or lab sections that may still need adjustments. Valid class times are given priority in campus-hosted classrooms. Departmentally owned space should be prioritized for sections with invalid or non-standard class times. The times of the sections may need to be changed to valid times if classroom space cannot be found.
  7. Classes meeting one day a week cannot be given priority in campus-hosted classrooms M-F during prime time. This includes single sections, seminars, and discussion or recitation portions of sections. Classes meeting one day a week Monday–Friday during prime time should be assigned to a departmentally owned space before registration begins. (Fourth-hour sections for four-credit hour courses do not fall into this category.)

  1. Students can view the WMT timetable starting September 16, and register starting September 30.
  2. Please review the full offering of WMT courses available to your students.
  3. Registration windows are based on official classification when the timetable is released. Classification levels are determined by completed credit hours only; in-progress credits are not included. More information about classification can be found here. For questions regarding a student’s classification or credit hours, please email registrar@utk.edu.
